Sagara has a moderate type of climate. Even in the hottest months of February to May, the temperature varies between 35.0 C and 35.50 C. The daily maximum temperature varies between 21.10 C and 23.80 C. The maximum and minimum temperature recorded is 39.40 C respectively. The daily variation in temperature is minimum from June to September and is maximum From January to April.
Sagara and its region are exposed to the South-West monsoon and the percentage of humidity is high. Humidity is high during the month of July and is low during the month of April. The maximum and minimum humidity recorded are 88% and 75% respectively. Humidity remains at the same level of 76% during the months of December and January
The climate is said to be very agreeable and cool. The cold season from December to february, which is one of clear bright weather, is followed by the hot season from March to May. The annual rainfall received by the city is found to be increasing over the last years. During the last 10 years the taluk has received an average annual rainfall of 822.4 mm. the precipitation is mostly due to the influence of south-west monsoon. The maximum rainfall is recorded during the months of June to August. The highest rainfall is during the month of July at the level of 222 mm. The pre monsoon showers occur during April-May and there will be considerable rainfall during the month of October due to the influence of retreating monsoon (North- East Monsoon) mostly due to the effect of depressions over the Bay of Bengal.

The wind is blows at an average speed of 8 kms per hour from west and south west direction during the period from April to October. During March the region witness easterly winds. During January, February, November and December the predominant wind direction is from East and North, East to West and South –West.
